The archaic white vase has a classic cong-shaped body with a pair of molded mask and ring handles applied to both sides. Each rectangle panel is finely painted with a different scene referring to traditional Chinese paintings: three depicting poetic scenes of flower-and-bird; and the fourth depicting an old scholar with a round fan in hand, preaching to a child. Three facets are identified with poetic inscriptions; and each scene is followed by varied iron-red seals of the artist, including his name Pingqing, as well as alternative studio name of Hao.
