5-Star General Omar Bradley (Feb. 12, 1893 - Apr. 8, 1981) graduated West Point in 1915. Under General George S. Patton, he captured Bizerte, Tunisia in 1943, which led to the surrender of more than 250,000 Axis troops during "WWII". As a commander in the war, he planned and participated in the Normandy Invasion. In 1949, he was named the first chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
