ATTRIBUTED TO PAUL REVERE (MA, 1734-1818) "A Picturesque View of the State of Great Britain for 1780" a satirical commentary on the American Revolutionary War with caption below in eight stanzas, engraving on laid paper, 6 3/4" x 7 1/4" impression on 7 1/2" x 8 3/4" sheet. In vintage walnut frame, under glass, laid to old chipboard. OS: 10 1/4" x 12 1/2". Three vertical bends, one horizontal, toned, burn mark lower center, losses and stain to right margin. One stanza reads "A distant view of Clinton and Arnold in New York, concerting measures for the fruitless scheme of enslaving America - Arnold, sensible of his guilt, drops his head and weeps". Contemporary events, Benedict Arnold as traitor.
