Mughal Jade Hilted Dagger Khanjar, 18th c. The mottled green jade hilt finely carved in the form of a parrot with eyes embellished with ruby inlaid set in gold, and a curved, double-edged steel blade forged of the finest Persian Kara Taban (brilliant black) wootz with delicately-chiseled panels to either side of the forte. with original green velvet covered scabbard, probably a presentation to the Qing court, length 14.5 inch. Mid-18th century. Provenance: Estate of U.S. Navy Captain Edward S. Pearce, Dover, Delaware, acquired in London in the 1960's
