TARZAN AND HIS MATE Window Card (14" x 22") ; The Bradleigh Vinson Collection Near Mint MGM, 1934 This stunning window card from the sequel to MGM's "Tarzan the Ape Man" (1932) is in pristine, unrestored condition, showcasing bright colors and a fresh appearance. This pre-Code film is highly popular among fans because of its racy and provocative scenes, which were featured before the implementation of the Code later that same year. The film gained cult status largely because O'Sullivan wore one of the most revealing costumes of its era-a halter-top and loincloth exposing her hips and thighs and her attire was especially provocative, symbolizing sexual freedom. In this pre-Code film, Jane sleeps nude, swims nude with Tarzan, is frequently touched by him, appears stranded naked in the jungle, and is shown nude in silhouette while dressing in a well-lit tent. Their sleeping together is particularly shocking for the time, as they are not married. This lot will be auctioned on Friday, March 6th.
