Mondial du Film et Des Beaux-Arts was held in Brussels, Belgium in June 1947, and was one of the first international film festivals in post-war Europe. This unusual poster was clearly inspired by one of Melies' fantasy creatures, who in this design is clutching a poster advertising the birth of cinema by Lumiere and Melies. As this poster was printed for the 1947 Mondial du Film Beau-Arts de Belgique, which took place at Les Salons du Bon Marche in Brussels, not many were printed, and very few have ever surfaced.
