Artist: THÉOPHILE-ALEXANDRE STEINLEN (1859-1923) Size: 24 1/2 x 35 in./62.2 x 89 cm Imp. Gillot, Paris An uncharacteristic Steinlen design promoting the ballet Le Rêve. Shown in the background is the giant fan which is opened in Act I by a magical arrow - it later invokes a dream sequence in this Asian-inspired spectacle. In 1891, this poster was offered by Sagot to poster collectors at a price of five francs; by 1895, the price had more than doubled, with Arnould selling it for twelve francs - a testament to its growing popularity.
