(1851 - 1939) Hays County Sheriff from 1892 to 1912, the longest consecutive term (20 years) as sheriff in that county. A true cowboy, he made at least 11 cattle drives up the Chisholm Trail and worked in the cattle business until he was elected in 1892. After retiring, Jackman served as the president of the Old Trail Driver's Association. Partly-printed D.S., 2pp. legal folio, San Marcos, TX., Oct. 10, 1894, a summons concerning an unpaid debt, completed and signed on the verso by Jackman who attests that the summons was served. Toned at folds else very good.
