Frederick Joseph Noonan (1893-1937, declared dead June 20, 1938) was an American flight navigator, sea captain and aviation pioneer, who first charted many commercial airline routes across the Pacific Ocean during the 1930s.[2] As the flight navigator for famed aviator Amelia Earhart in their pioneering attempt at circumnavigating the globe, he disappeared with her somewhere over the central Pacific Ocean on July 2, 1937. Rare First Flight Cover signed “F.J. Noonan” fourth in the column of seven crew signatures. bearing Western-bound postmarks; “San Francisco/Oct 5/ 2pm / 1935 ... San Francisco / Oct 24 /12pm / Calif ..” Addressed to E.D. Bufour at the Claremont Hotel.
