This is a signed etching portrait of Union Admiral David Dixon Porter (1813-1891). This etching portrait is in 10.125" x 14.5" glass frame and is marked below image " Photograph by Brady" and "Expressly for this work". The etching is has etching signature and below is matted clipped actual signature and "Admiral" in the same ink. Porter has a long career before the war and came from a long line of US Navy service. This framing was well done there are other autographs from this same source. There is some age yellowing under the glass and may be time to refresh the mounting because of specks of dust inside frame, yet everything looks stable in terms of preservation. Frame shows some minor wear. Very nice piece of Civil War Navy history.
