작품 상세

This framed letter is from Edward Everett (1794-1865) to his wife (assumed) dated 1835. The half page letter reads "Charlestown Mass 14 Augt 1835 My Darling, May I trouble you to hand the enclosed to my brother. Obliging Yours very respectfully, E. Everett". It is tastefully framed and matted in 20" x 15" glass frame with engraved name panel and copy of photo of Everett. Everett was a well known orator and Governor of Massachusetts. He is most famous for speaking for almost 2 hours before Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address which lasted only 2 minutes. The letter shows stains and age. Has one small hole and has oval embossed watermark in upper left corner which appears to be a profile of person. This is a nice piece of American history.
