An official military appointment record signed by President Rutherford B. Hayes and his Secretary of War, George W. McCrary, on January 18, 1879. This document marks the appointment of Frederick von Schrader to the rank of First Lieutenant. Embossed blue War Office seal near left edge. The handwritten note at the upper left corner reads: "Recorded Vol. 21, page 466: / Adjutant General's Office, / January 18, 1879. / E.D. Townsend / Adjutant General." Good. Age-toned, particularly at edges, with several creases and minor damp staining to lower edge. Mounted to light board with minor bubbling to adhesive. Document dimensions: w 14.75 in x h 18.5 in.
