Wharton Esherick autographed "Song of the Broad-Axe" by Walt Whitman. Published by Centaur Press in 1924. Very rare limited edition hand #ed 263 (out of 400 copies produced). Only 375 copies were sold to the public. This example is even more special due to the fact that it is signed by Wharton Esherick on the third interior page. Esherick signed and notated the page in dark ink "Wharton H Esherick - Paoli. Pennsylvania 1927". We have been unable to find any records of a signed example selling. The 8 1/4" x 11 1/4" hardcover book features woodcut illustrations by Esherick throughout. Book is complete and intact. Interior pages show minimal handling wear. The cover has some minor wear on the bottom edge. The spine / binding cover is missing.
