Apparently Ali was scheduled for a photoshoot with Schulke, and when he found out that Schulke was well known for his underwater photographs, decided to tell Schulke that he trained underwater as an excuse to have Schulke take one of his famous underwater shots. Allegedly, he told Schulke that training underwater provided resistance training, similar to how boxers trained with heavier gloves and shoes prior to a match. Signed in ink by Muhammad Ali. Signed and titled in ink by photographer. 14 x 11in. The photographs in this auction have been examined by an expert, whose opinions pertaining to the age of the prints, the printing process, and the type of paper used, are included in the description of each photograph. Although Guernsey’s believes these descriptions to be accurate, interested buyers are urged to personally inspect the prints either at the public preview or by appointment with Guernsey’s.
