Nantes, le 4 Ventôse An IV (23 février 1796) sur papier en-tête imprimé à la devise "Res, non-Verba"; 1 page, in-4. Recommandation pour un officier de sa garde "qui mérite un avancement plus rapide que celui qu'il obtiendrait dans son corps". Marge gauche réduite et traces de scotch. Brilliant young General of the French Republic. Commanded the Army of the Moselle. Signed letter, 1 page 4to, Nantes, 4 Ventose, An 4 (Feb. 23, 1796). Three small tapes at left margin not affecting the text. Addressed to Paul Barras (1755-1829), member of the Executive Directory, warmly recommending a Lt. Holleville of the 6th Regt of Hussars, whom he feels deserves a more speedy promotion than he could grant him. Barras signs on the same page noting that the matter is to be taken into consideration.
