작품 상세

Original artwork by Damien Hirst. A great autographed drawing of his famous 'shark'. The most affordable original Hirst on the market today. Perfect for framing and display. Damien Hirst (1965 - ) is a world renowned British artist, entrepreneur and art collector. He became famous, or infamous, for his series of artworks involving dead animals, often dissected and preserved in formaldehyde. In September 2008, his artworks raised £111m ($198m) at Sotheby's, breaking the world record for a one-artist auction. This is a Royal Mail First Day Cover, stamped by British Philatelic Bureau on 28th August 1984, addressed to Mr R.J. Geraghty in Birkenhead and featuring Damien Hirst's handwritten inscription `For R.J., Don`t Give up on the Art.` Below this, Hirst has drawn three love hearts and a superb, crisp depiction of his famous shark 'The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living', also adding three kisses and his autograph at the base of the drawing. The original 'The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living' was commissioned in 1991 by Charles Saatchi and consists of a tiger shark preserved in formaldehyde in a vitrine. Saatchi sold the work to collector Steve Cohen for $12m in 2004. It is considered the iconic work of British art in the 1990s. At Paul Fraser Collectibles we have sold two similar Damien Hirst artworks at £9,500 and £7,950 in recent weeks.
