Signed first editon copy of Walt Disney's World of Fantasy. Includes autographs from 20 Disney animators and voice actors. Additonal sketches of Disney's most famous characters added by those who created them. Walt Disney (1901-1966) is most famous for his influential work in cartoons and his globally-successful business empire. His innovations, both in animation and in theme park design, will never be forgotten. A superb film produced, he was nominated for 59 Academy Awards, winning 26. The Disney franchise continues to enthrall legions of fans today, some 90 years after the company was founded. This ensures that the market for Disney memorabilia remains strong, with top items consistently seeing fantastic results at auction. Disney was not autonomous in the creation of his fantastical, imaginative cartoons. He had teams of experienced animators, who sketched and painted hundreds of thousands of animation cells, which created the films that are his legacy. This signed first edition book, Walt Disney's World of Fantasy, from NY Everest House's 1982 first printing, measures 11.75" x 9.25". 20 Disney animators and voice actors have autographed the inside front cover and opening pages, in a variety of inks. Some of the signers have inscribed notes addressed to 'Terry'. Some light soiling to the inside front cover from artist's pencil, some mild toning to the covers and light handling to dust jacket, otherwise in fine condition. The "Nine Old Men" were the core animators at Walt Disney Productions, many of whom were in their thirties and forties at the time. Three of the 'Nine Old Men' have signed this item; Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston and Marc Davis. Johnston first worked on Snow White before progressing to work in Peter Pan, Cinderella and Robin Hood. Thomas was master craftsman of the 'baddie'; his work includes Cinderella's Stepmother, Alice in Wonderland's Queen of Hearts and Peter Pan's Captain Hook. Likewise, Davis created Sleeping Beauty's iconic Maleficent and the evil Cruella De Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians. Other signers include the voice actors Wayne Allwine (Mickey Mouse's third voice), Clarence Nash (voice of Donald Duck for 50 years), Tony Anselmo (current voice of Donald Duck and animator) Five original Mouseketeers (main cast members of the Mickey Mouse Club TV show) have also signed the pages; Sherrie Alberoni, Lonnie Burr, Darlene Gillespie, Doreen Tracy and Bobby Bourgess (who adds a Mickey sketch). Bill Justice, co-creator of Chip N'Dale, has added a sketch of both characters, while Dick Ruhl, a designer and artist, has sketched his ex-wife as Daisy Duck. The signatures of designers Bill Bosche and Ken O'Connor, along with art director Ken Anderson's, are also inscribed. Four additional animators and illustrators have autographed the book; Willie Ito, Sam McKim, Bob Moore and David Pacheco. Moore has drawn a portrait of Goofy, while Pacheco has added a large Mickey sketch.
