Cornwallis, Edward (1713-1776) Governor of Nova Scotia Autograph 3-page folding document Signed by Cornwallis and the first justices of the Court of Halifax. Dated at Halifax on March 7, 1752. This document is a request to Edward Cornwallis to permit the present clerk, David Lloyd to be attorney to represent those having committed crimes. David Lloyd has gone without pay since the town of Halifax was settled a year and half ago. Cornwallis does accept the request and signs at the bottom. All six persons are of historical significance at the time of Halifax's founding. Vertical and horizontal folds. Document measures 7 1/2 by 12 inches. Matted and framed.
