Gustaf Tenggren original painting of a violin player. (American, 1896-1970) “Violin Player” circa 1915 watercolor on paper. Gustaf Tenggren was a well-known book illustrator in the 1920s and was hired by the Walt Disney Company in 1936 to work on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Tenggren gave Snow White the “Old World” look that Walt Disney was seeking for his first feature-length film. Tenggren later worked on Bambi and Pinocchio, as well as several shorts including the groundbreaking The Old Mill. This painting depicting the “Violin Player” measures 18.25 x 11.5 in. Signed by the artist in the lower right.
