Indonesian painter Erica Hestu Wahyuni is well known for her brightly coloured scenes of daily life, influenced by her own dreams and imaginative fantasies. Kalavikasana features a myriad of Eastern and Western symbols against a cheerful landscape. In the center of the image, Erica includes an image of a lady in a yoga pose that resembles the graceful stance of a tree, positioned within the shape of a piano. The painting includes the statue of liberty, plants (lotus symbolises purity), vehicles, accompanied with iconic buildings, and her favourite animals, the elephants, birds, fishes, whales and octopus. Erica's first exhibition of sketches was held at Taman Budaya (Cultural Park), Yogyakarta in 1990. She has then participated in a number of group shows including 32nd Year of the Sanggar Bambu at Widya Manggala, Yogyakarta (1991), Women Imaging Women at the Cultural Centre in the Philippines (1999) and To Russia with Art at Yayasan Seni Rupa Indonesia in Moscow, Russia (2000). Her solo exhibition was held at Mondecor Museum and Art Gallery, Jakarta in conjunction with Chap Goh Meh festival in 2013. Her works can be spotted at the airport in Indonesia.
