Known for his distinctively naïve stylistic manner of painting, Fauzul Yusri captivates his audience with the sophistication of his mark-makings. Fauzul Yusri developed a personal style that enabled him to present his reflections on issues surrounding our daily existence, in this case, the evolution of early life forms through the form of a window frame resembling a cell. The frame guides the eye movement through contrasts of colour. Bumiku contains aspects associated with the prehistoric experience, using a plethora of prehistoric animals, fish, and mammals combined with layered surface textures. Fauzul Yusri graduated from the Mara Institute of Technology in 1999, majoring in Drawing. His 13 solos include Works On Canvas, Cages, Pop Primitive, Neolithic, Ground, Raw, Coreng and Guris at such as Elm Quay Fine Arts, Galeri Izu and Taksu, Kuala Lumpur. He held a solo Whiteground at Taksu in September 2017. He received the Incentive Award in Galeri Shah Alam’s Open Show in 2000, and Special Mentions in the Young Contemporary Artists (BMS) and Kijang Awards competitions in 2002 and 2004 respectively. His latest solo exhibition Konkrit was held at Taksu KL (August to October, 2021).
