The name itself is sophisticated however this type of flower is a favourite among the Filipinos garden enthusiast. It is densely shrubby, small, evergreen tree branching from quite low down and can grow up to 17 metres tall. This unique plant is not just fascinating to the artist herself but also to the viewers. Noor Mahnun Mohamed also known as Anum participated in a yearlong Malaysia- Australia Visual Arts Residency in 2000 and produced works which were then exhibited at Rimbun Dahan the following year. Besides making art, she held the position of Visual Arts Residency Manager at Rimbun Dahan for a few years. The artist returned to Malaysia at the end of 1997 having spent seven years studying for her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Braunschweig, Germany (1989–1996), and exhibiting broadly in Europe. She was also awarded the Italian Government Scholarship to study printmaking at the International School of Print and Graphic Il Bisonte, Florence in 2003. The artist’s latest solo exhibition titled Disco Lombok Still Life was held at The Edge Galerie in 2017. Her works transcend the conventions of still life, figurative and landscape painting, inspired by the Old Masters of the European tradition. In Henry Butcher Art Auction April 2018 edition, her work Am Abend was sold at RM 235,200.
