Rodel Tapaya's myths border on fantastically-drawn illustrations of children's books with flaring colors and wild imagery. The Grand Prize winner of the 2011 Signature Art Prize, one of the most respected art prizes in the Asia-Pacific region, Tapaya's stories are culled from across the country - oral narratives handed down the generations to serve as moral tales. Arumpak describes The Invincible as a pictorial story of a man, who with the help of a witch overcomes all the trials given to him by a cruel sultan who wanted to take his (the man's) wife. In the end, the man manages to defeat the tyrant. Rather than simply being seen as the triumph of good over evil, one sees in this monumental painting and in the simultaneous depiction of this spectacle of events a shared sense of understanding and community
