This rare work by the National Artist shows a little known side of Manansala as a politically attuned, and fervent nationalist. The scene appears to show unfurled flags being carried across a shop front - the multi-layered reflection of the cars and jeepneys on the window underscoring the transparent cubist style of the master. Edgar Doctor, visual artist, creative collaborator and contemporary of Manansala, graciously confirmed the authenticity of this painting in the presence of members of the Friends of Manansala Foundation, 25 March 2014
