A FINE WHITE- AND BROWN-GLAZED STONEWARE ‘PRUNUS’ TEA BOWL (CHAWAN) Japan, 19th-20th century. Well-potted, with tall, straight sides rising from a knife-cut foot, entirely glazed in varying shades of brown with a rough textured surface, and decorated with a blossoming prunus branch, whose creamy, white-glazed leaves contrast with the overall dark tones of the vessel.
