‡ The Property of a Gentleman A Myochin suji-bachi [helmet with raised ridges]Signed Myochin Nobuie and kao [cursive monogram]Muromachi period, dated Tenbun yonen kinoto hitsuji nigatsu kichijitsu (an auspicious day in the 2nd month 1535) the fine richly patinated sixty-two plate russet iron bowl with raised ridges, terminating in a copper-gilt five-stage tehen kanamono of stylised chrysanthemum form, russet iron peak, the large turnbacks applied with tsuru mon [crane crests], four-tiered gold lacquered ko-manju jikoro [slightly rounded neck guard] with close-spaced lacing in purple braid, copper-gilt and lacquered maedate [ornamental crest] in the form of a suken with sankozuka hilt The bowl to peak: 29 cm. Accompanied by a certificate of registration as Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho Shiryo [First Grade Especially Important Object], no. 1445 issued by the Nihon Katchu Bugu Kenkyu Hozon-kai [The Association for the Research and Preservation of Japanese Helmets and Armour], dated Reiwa 5 (2023).
