MEIJI PERIOD JAPANESE HAND-PAINTED PORCELAIN HIBACHI, 1880-1910 A large Meiji period Japanese porcelain hibachi (planter), hand-painted in underglaze blue with a continuous landscape scene depicting mountains, pine trees, pavilions, and a stone bridge, accented with delicate gilt highlights. The rim decorated with a blue and white chrysanthemum scroll border. Originally made as a hibachi, now suitable for use as a decorative planter. Dimensions: 19 in. (48.3 cm) top outside diameter; 15 1/4 in. (38.7 cm) top inside diameter; 12 in. (30.5 cm) height. Condition: In excellent condition; no chips, cracks, or repairs.
