Japanese Woodblock Triptych Depicting Emperors and Foreign Dignitary, Late Edo to Meiji Period A hand-colored Japanese woodblock print triptych depicting a historical or allegorical assembly of emperors, noble figures, and a foreign dignitary in full European military uniform. This striking composition reflects late Edo to early Meiji fascination with modernization, diplomacy, and East-West encounters. Rich red and teal tones, layered textile patterns, and expressive faces evoke the grandeur of the court. Unidentified artist, but possibly from the school of Utagawa Kuniyoshi or one of his followers. Size (each panel): approx. 14 x 9 1/2 in. (35.5 x 24 cm) Condition: Toning, light creasing, and edge wear consistent with age. Minor stains. Not examined out of frame. Estimate: $300-500
