작품 상세
Masuo Ojima (Born 1949) Japanese American, Large Post Modern Ceramic Pottery Vessel. Ceramic vessel with a wide, flattened body, smaller mouth, and a narrow cylindrical foot. Purple and green with a gold mouth and gold rice-like dash marks in the middle. Signed on the underside. Size: 18 x 18 x 10 in. Born and raised in Japan, Masuo Ojima's aesthetic sensibilities were shaped early by a rich cultural heritage and a family tradition of craftsmanship—their father was a cabinet maker and grandfather a traditional roof tile producer. Although initially drawn to music and the arts, it wasn’t until college that Ojima encountered ceramics by chance and was immediately captivated by the process. This discovery led them to shift their focus entirely to the visual arts. A few years after graduating, Ojima established their own studio and began a career in ceramics that has spanned nearly four decades. Despite the inevitable challenges of the medium, the creative process continues to bring them deep joy and inspiration. Ojima remains committed to their work for as long as creativity and physical ability allow.
