A Japanese Edo Period Thuya Wood Cabinet on Stand. The cabinet having a pagoda pediment housing a box compartment beneath a sliding lid edged with lacquered moulding embellished with gilt scroll work and hinged at the back, rising to reveal a further box compartment to the frieze concealed behind a faux front drawer. The cabinet doors opening to reveal one long over two short internal drawers, flanked by lacquered split spindle applies to the corners and having swing handles to the sides. The ebonised stand on sweeping legs united by a wavy X-form stretcher, 46'' (117 cm) high, 17¾'' (45 cm) wide, 14½'' (37 cm) deep.
