It is unknown whether Audemars made the blank and the complicated strike-work system themselves or bought them from Constant Piguet in Le Sentier. Constant Piguet patented his construction on 20th March 1896 in Switzerland. The successor company Louis Audemars finished the movement inherited from the Ancienne Maison. The Auction House Ineichen in Zurich sold a very similar watch on 15th May 2000 with the patent number 11948 (Piguet le Sentier), signed “MATTHEY DORET/PAUL LA MAISONNETTE No. 718.982. Most probably the blank of this watch comes from Louis Audemars since they worked closely together with Constant Piguet of Le Sentier.
