Louis Audemars 39/1 Gold hunter No. 10.796 with minute repeating and independent jumping centre seconds, made circa 1868 for Charles Oudin, Paris Cf. Louis-Benjamin Audemars: His Life and Work; Hartmut Zantke; p. 283 Provenance: Collection Hartmut Zantke Very heavy five-piece, smooth, stepped, à goutte, monogrammed, 18K gold case by Meylan Frères with big slide on case to activate strike -work and a small slide to stop the jumping centre seconds, five-piece recessed hinges. Punch marks on the inside of the case: MF in oval capital letters, capital letter B in a shield (Paul Buhré), double cross of Lorraine in a rhombus on a heart with capitals “L.A.”. Diameter 54 mm. Enamel dial with Roman numerals and minute circle with Arabic numerals. Gold spade hand, blued steel second hand. Gilded brass bridge lever movement with 30 jewels, three barrels, stop-work, two independent wheel trains that are wound alternately, gold wheels, polished and bevelled steel levers, gold screw balance with blued Breguet balance-spring, Audemars lever (Bishop`s crook shaped), strike-work with two hammers on two gongs. Signed on bridge: “No. 10 838”.
