CORLETTO 18K GOLD DIAMOND FRENCH LADY PORTRAIT BROOCH C1960 Oreste Giovanni Corletto 18Kt Yellow Gold double rope framed and wire decorated hand painted oval miniature portrait pendant brooch, depicting a French Art Nouveau lady, (similar to 1890 French Posters) with profile facing center. Accented with 3 single cut genuine diamonds, and having hand painted embellishments: face, hair, dress, etc… Although not marked by the maker this pendant/brooch is unquestionably the work Oreste Giovanni Corletto: Circa 1960s - Italian jewelry designer. Measuring approximately 44 X 37 mm, completed by an articulated hand finished bail, with metal pin stem, gross weight 14.10 grams Marked: 18kt, 1023 ABOUT THE FIRM: Giovanni Corletto formed Corletto Inc fine jewelry in partnership with Tishman & Lipp in 1963 and were among the first to import a full collection of Italian merchandise for resale to the retail trade. Corletto designs were inspired by nature and figurative art and known for fine quality and craftsmanship. ART NOUVEAU POSTERS AND GRAPHIC ARTS: Art Nouveau poster designers, especially in the earlier years, had to work with the early technology of lithography, which in early versions limited the number of colors they could use. They are also very much influenced by Japanese prints, especially those of Hiroshige, with their flat planes and two dimensions, which were being popularized expositions in Paris during this period.
