真夏的波 The Waves of Midsummer 簽名題識畫背:Yayoi Kusama 1988 真夏の波 Signed Yayoi Kusama, dated 1988 and titled The Wave of Midsummer in Japanese on the reverse 無限的網創作的啟發原點,除了出自長年困擾草間彌生的精神疾病,更來 自於當年藝術家遠赴紐約時於飛機航班上所看到的太平洋,進而將海面網 絡來回波動、無限擴張的概念,自腦海中不斷延伸到畫布之上。這也是我 們今天能在她的作品中,見到大量以日本漢字「波」(即水面)命名畫作 的由來。 此件由草間彌生於1988年所創作的《真夏的波》,以藝術家最為擅長的 色澤之一-紅黑配色構成作品的全貌,並以此作為對於盛夏海洋的回憶。 若我們將有如火一般炙熱的顏色比喻為盛夏,那滿佈畫面的密集粗黑線條 則代表了因潮汐潮起潮落,不甚平靜的海洋表面。同時,在黑色潮汐的下 方,仍覆蓋上一層由黑色細線構成的「無限的網」,層疊的細膩構圖不但 為畫面帶來多層次的視覺感受,其反覆交疊的波紋更令人不禁感到目眩。 在這個念頭於大腦中升起的當下,猶如回到了與藝術家共同身處烈日曝曬 的年代—當年那個真夏的波。 The origin of the infinite network of creations stems not only from the mental illness that has plagued Yayoi Kusama for many years, but was also inspired from a concept that the artist saw the Pacific Ocean on the flight when she traveled to New York, and then fluctuated and expanded the sea network.
